Earn Washington STARS Continuing Education Credit
You have two choices for earning STARS continuing education credit through Priceless Parenting:
1. Schedule a Presentation
Kathy Slattengren, M. Ed., is a certified STARS trainer. All presentations qualify for STARS credit. You can combine a couple
different presentation topics
for a half day workshop or schedule a single 2 hour presentation.
You may pay for a STARS presentation by either dividing the cost amongst the teachers attending or having the organization pay the fee.
The State Department of Early Learning's training reimbursement
document says that each eligible person can apply once a year for a reimbursement up to $250. They state “Reimbursements are
available on a first come, first serve basis; funds are limited each fiscal year.” There is no reimbursement at the organization level.
The price for a 2 hour STARS presentation is $400. So if 8 teachers attended it would be $50/person.
The presentation fee is entered into the MERIT database which is how they know that someone has paid the fee and is
eligible for a reimbursement.
2. Take an Online Class
Each online class is designed for early childhood educators. You complete the class at your own pace, take a short quiz and
then print out your certficate of completion. These classes are also eligible for a STARS reimbursement.
